About Image Annotator
Last updated: June 2026
OptiPix Image Annotator is the screenshot markup tool you've been missing - paste a screenshot with Ctrl+V, draw arrows and rectangles, add text callouts, place numbered step markers, blur sensitive info like emails and passwords, then copy the result back to your clipboard for instant pasting into Slack, Jira, or email. Tools include arrow, line, rectangle (outlined or filled), ellipse/circle, freehand pen, text callout, numbered step markers, semi-transparent highlight, blur/pixelate region, and crop. Each shape supports color, thickness, fill opacity, and font size. Select any annotation to move, resize, or delete it. Undo / redo via Ctrl+Z / Ctrl+Shift+Z. The 'Capture Screen' button uses getDisplayMedia to grab a screen, tab, or window. Output to PNG or JPEG, or copy directly to the clipboard. Everything is rendered to a canvas locally - your screenshots never get uploaded.
How It Works
Annotations are stored as a vector list of shapes (arrow, rect, text, etc.) and rendered each frame onto a canvas above the source image. On export, all shapes are flattened into a single PNG/JPEG bitmap that can be copied to the clipboard or downloaded.
Use Cases
- •Create annotated bug reports for engineering teams
- •Mark up design mockups with feedback for designers
- •Build step-by-step tutorials with numbered screenshots
- •Blur sensitive personal info before sharing screenshots publicly
- •Add arrows and text to product screenshots for documentation
